rchq.co.za is now hosted on a new server in South Africa ...

Thanks to Vanto Technologies for hosting RCHQ on a local SA server!

Now the SA guys should be happier knowing that their poor little ADSL and 3G routers don't have to work so hard to get to RCHQ ... or does that really depends on the internet infrastructure of SA? Anyway, should be fewer routers involved now...

The move went relatively smoothly. There is still one thing to do, so if you notice some broken images, please report them in the General rchq discussion forum.

Update: Sorry, my misunderstanding. Hosted by a South African company, but still on an international server. Thanks to the local internet costs ...

RCHQ is moving to a new server tonight.

Uploads have been turned off until the move is completed.

Well, that didn't happen ...

The site will close for the move tonight and reopen again tomorrow once it has been transferred.

The site was closed temporarily over the weekend because there was a security problem.

The problem has now been fixed, and the site reopened.

Site upgrade happening tonight from around 19:30 ...

We will be upgrading rchq.co.za website tonight starting at 19:30. This is quite a major upgrade, so it might take a few hours. Expect the site to be back up around 21:00 or 22:00.I'm sure it will be worth it ...

RCHQ Hobby shop opening in June 2010

RCHQ will be opening a hobby shop in June 2010 at Casterbridge shopping centre in White River.

We've been wanting to open a brick and mortar store for a long time now and we finally have an oportunity to do so.

New ranking system installed.

The new ranking system automatically ranks users according to their involvement and contributions to the site.Members can also nominate other members for medals and promotions by visiting the rank page (link on main menu).Also part of this system is an admin feature which allows users to be put on probation and jailed for bad behavior, or kicked if they commit serious offenses.The hope is that this system will show up those that misbehave and also highlight those that contribute so much in valuable time and expertise.Thanks to all of you for making this site great!

New ban system installed ....

Please pay attention to the forum / site rules.
Offenders will be banned. A zero tolerance approach to abuse has to be taken because of the bad apples amongst us.

Unfortunately this is a side effect of human life...
